The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) offers the following programs to involve advocates:

FDA Cancer Drug Development Patient Consultant Program
What is the Cancer Drug Development Patient Consultant Program?
This program involves cancer patient advocates in the drug development and review process. Patient advocates who are selected to participate in this program must commit their time to learning about the FDA and the drug review and approval process. Applicants must be active in their advocacy community and have sufficient knowledge about cancer research to participate in the clinical trial review process. FDA provides training to the patient consultants and gives them the opportunity to participate in meetings with the FDA drug companies during the drug review process.

What is the goal of the Patient Consultant Program?
The goal of the Patient Consultant Program is to incorporate the perspective of cancer patient advocates into the drug development process.

How to apply to become a member of the Patient Consultant Program?

FDA Cancer Patient Representative Program
What is the FDA Cancer Patient Representative Program?
The program recruits and trains cancer patient advocates to participate as voting member in FDA cancer-related advisory committees. Applicants must be active in their advocacy community and have sufficient knowledge about cancer research to participate in the advisory committee process.

What is the goal of the Cancer Patient Representative Program?
The goals of the Cancer Patient Representative Program is to provide the patient perspective at FDA cancer-related advisory committees.

How can I apply to become a member of the Cancer Patient Representative Program?
